This majestic live oak spreads over the eastern
salt marsh on Spring Island, South Carolina. Resistant to salt spray,
this evergreen is the heaviest of all oaks often weighing more tha n
seventy pounds per cubic foot.
The USS Constitution was built from live oaks
earning the name “ Old Ironside”. Restoration of the
magnificent sailing vessel has always used live oak timbers.
We chose this enduring tree as our logo since
it is long-lived, strong, evergreen, and resistant to the sometimes
harsh realities of its environment. The live oak uniquely expresses
our own philosophy for investing. This wonderful photograph was
taken by Marilyn Shaver on Spring Island.
